FURTHER NORTH THAN EVER: A JOURNEY FROM BERGEN TO TRONDHEIM

Get ready for an unforgettable cycling adventure through the heart of Norway. Our gravel route takes you from Bergen to Trondheim, offering 10 days full of challenges, breathtaking views, and close encounters with nature. Along the way, we’ll cross rugged fjords, vast plateaus, and picturesque valleys where time seems to slow down. This is a journey for those who seek to discover the untouched silence of Scandinavian landscapes, feel the power of nature, and push their own limits. Riding through Norway’s harsh terrain, we’ll experience firsthand the country’s untamed beauty – a place where nature follows its own rules.

This summer, we continue exploring the north. For Corpus Christi, we’re heading to Sweden for Camp MIDSOMMAR, and in July, we return to Scandinavia for a true adventure through central Norway. This trip is of a nomadic nature, but we won’t carry our luggage on the bikes. We ride light, and the luggage will be transported by a support vehicle.

This is the first edition of the trip, so some of the photos on this page have been borrowed from bikepacking.com.

FLIGHTS

Flight tickets are to be purchased independently – there are plenty of flights available and they are very affordable (around 160 PLN round trip at the time of publication). Suggested connections:

- 10.07 (Thursday): Wizzair Gdańsk – Bergen (11:15-13:10) - 20.07 (Sunday): Wizzair Trondheim – Gdańsk (9:40-11:35) You don’t need to purchase checked luggage as we’ll be transporting your luggage and bike by bus.

On the first day, we’ll pick you up from Bergen airport, and on the last day, we’ll drop you off at Trondheim airport – no need to worry about transfers.

TRANSPORT OF BAGS AND BIKE

Two days before departure, we’ll pack the bikes and luggage into the bus in Warsaw, at our Clubhouse on Puławska 134. Similarly, after your return to Poland, we’ll organize the pickup of your bike and luggage. If you're from another part of Poland, please let us know in the comments section of your registration – we’ll try to arrange a pickup of your luggage and bike from another location.

ACCOMMODATION

The trip is nomadic in nature, and each night we’ll stay in a different location. Along the way, we’ll mostly sleep in rural guesthouses or holiday cabins.

Note: We recommend bringing a lightweight sleeping bag, as it can get chilly at night.

THE ROUTE

The total distance to cover is 938 km with 13,400 m of elevation gain. We will mostly be riding on good gravel roads and asphalt, with very few technically difficult sections. The gravel to asphalt ratio is 51/49%.

Norway has a specific terrain with many plateaus, which means we will occasionally face long ascents or descents, but also have plenty of relatively flat sections. On average, we’ll be climbing about 1,340 m per day.

The main challenge on this route is its length (the daily distances aren't too large, but there are 10 days of riding) and unpredictable weather conditions. We are in Scandinavia, so we could experience beautiful sunshine or several days of rain!

As for food and supplies along the route, we’ll pass through towns with shops at least 1-2 times a day, so you don’t need to carry too much food or water. However, there will be stretches where we’ll go through areas with no services for 4-5 hours, so it’s a good idea to carry more than just energy bars and gels.

We recommend a gravel bike with tires around 40 mm in width.

Please note: we reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary that won’t significantly affect the total distance and elevation.

Janek

Lover of all kinds of adventure cycling. Rides his bike more than 300 days a year. Most enjoys exploring the world from the perspective of two wheels, which he does at every opportunity. Rides in the mountains, takes photos, drinks coffee and eats pastries. The architect of routes and camps, and main photographer.

Doma

Doma

Loves to pet doggies and eat jellies. Also rides all year round, regardless of the weather. Apparently, the only kind of cycling she does is romantic cycling. You won't find her at races or on a trainer. But don't get it wrong - she rides over a dozen thousand kilometers every year. The most emphatic part of NGE - always ready to help when needed, and won't leave you behind in the woods.
