LET'S CELEBRATE THE SUMMER SOLSTICE WHERE THE DAYS ARE LONGEST

Midsommar – a holiday celebrated by Swedes on the weekend closest to the midsummer night. Participants gather the day before (Friday) in an open, grassy area, where they have fun and dance. The central focus is the Maypole, decorated with green branches and flowers. In the afternoon, there are usually various competitions and games for children, communal dances around the pole, and traditional dance activities. Later, the adults gather in the garden, on the veranda, or under the awning of a camper to enjoy traditional foods for the occasion.Participants gather the day before (Friday) in an open, grassy area, where they have fun and dance. That’s what Wikipedia says. We have a slightly different proposal: we’ll take a ferry to Sweden, then spend the next 4 days cycling through the Swedish countryside towards Stockholm, before packing up and taking the return ferry to Poland. Sounds like a great adventure, right?

This year's Camp MIDSOMMAR is a continuation of last year's adventure from Warsaw to Gdańsk (you can read about that adventure here). Back then, we covered 440 km in 2 days, bikepacking-style – carrying our gear with us. In 2025, the summer solstice falls during the long Corpus Christi weekend, so we thought we could go for something even bigger.

For 2025, we’ve prepared a full 6-day Camp MIDSOMMAR. We’ll spend the longest days of the year where they’re even longer. Heading north the whole time, we’ll make our way to Stockholm. It’s going to be a true gravel adventure with long days in the saddle, but at a leisurely pace with no rush. With the support of a technical vehicle, we don’t need to worry about luggage transport or gear failures. We’re going light. The daily distances will also be shorter than last year (the detailed itinerary below).

TRANSPORT

We meet at the ferry terminal in Gdynia on June 18th (Wednesday) at 18:00. The camp ends on June 23rd (Monday) at 12:00 in the port of Gdańsk. For an additional fee of 250 PLN, we offer bus transport from and to Warsaw.

We travel both ways on night ferries, with 4-person cabins included in the price. The ferry cost accounts for about half of the total camp price.

ACCOMMODATION

The first and last nights are spent on the ferries in cabins. In Sweden, we stay in hotels and guesthouses, in rooms with a maximum of 4 people. Naturally, all beds are single, but don't expect luxury.

THE ROUTE

Sweden is famous for its perfect gravel roads through endless forests and smooth asphalt with minimal traffic. That’s exactly what our route will be like – technically easy and enjoyable, with nearly an ideal 50/50 ratio of gravel to asphalt.

Sweden is not flat – the glacial formations resemble the Kashubian region, and although all the climbs are short and gentle (the highest point on the entire route is just 168 meters above sea level), after a few hours of riding, they will start to be felt.

Over four days of cycling, we will cover about 600 km and gain about 5500 meters of elevation – averaging 150 km and 1375 meters of elevation per day. Note: We reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary that do not significantly affect the distances and total elevation gains.
